Online Worship: Ascension of Our Lord and Seventh Sunday of Easter

How does Jesus’ ascension into the heavens work in our modern day thinking? Perhaps Jesus is simply going into the presence of God—which means he is breaking a path for us as well. His ascension is not just a “good luck and see you later.” It’s his way of building a bridge to reunite and reintegrate heaven and earth, human and divine, the broken and fractured ways of the world in which we live.

This worship service includes Communion as an extension of the table at St. Peter’s on Sunday, May 21, 2023. You may want to have bread/cracker and wine/juice ready before you watch. The Bible readings for this worship service are Acts 1:6-14; Psalm 47; Ephesians 1:15-23; and John 17:1-11.
