Online Worship: Ascension and Seventh Sunday of Easter—The Art of Farewell

When Jesus ascended into heaven, he left the disciples behind wondering why, and with the tragedies of the last few weeks, many are also feeling the absence of God. But ascension is far from Jesus leaving us. Rather it is Jesus empowering us with the Spirit so that we may do God’s work with our own hands. We no longer need to gaze to heaven to look for Jesus, but we can find his presence in one another. Today especially, be the presence of Jesus for one another.

This worship service includes Communion as an extension of the table at St. Peter’s on Sunday, May 29, 2022. You may want to have bread/cracker and wine/juice ready before you watch. The Bible readings for this worship service are: Acts 1:1-11; Psalm 97; Revelation 22:12-14, 20-21; and John 17:20-26.
