Jesus meets a woman who has been suffering physically for eighteen years and heals her on the Sabbath…very controversial for that time. Everyone wants to jump into the resulting fray while the woman fades into the background. But Jesus sees her and reminds everyone that she is important too, just as important as the rule about the Sabbath. God’s rules are important, but the heart of the rules is compassion.
This worship service includes Communion as an extension of the table at St. Peter’s on Sunday, August 21, 2022. You may want to have bread/cracker and wine/juice ready before you watch. The Bible readings for this worship service are: Isaiah 58:9b-14; Psalm 103:1-8; Hebrews 12:18-24a; and Luke 13:10-17.
