The pinnacle of the Christmas story is when the angels sing throughout the heavens: Glory to God and peace to all humankind! Today we sing the carols once more and hear the words of the prophets, the story of Jesus’ birth, and the cosmic plan of God to redeem, reconcile and heal the entire world.
The Bible readings for this worship service are Isaiah 9:2-7; Micah 5:2-5a; Luke 1:26-35, 38; Luke 2:1-7; Luke 2:8-16; Matthew 2:1-12; Luke 2:21-32; Luke 2:33-40; and John 1:1-14. Lessons and Carols does not customarily include a celebration of Holy Communion.
