Sharing a meal with Jesus and hearing the scriptures are the two main elements of our worship service every Sunday. Both happen in our gospel reading today. Jesus and his disciples share a breakfast of broiled fish while he explains to them the meaning of his suffering, death and resurrection. In fact, the gospel for the third Sunday of Easter is always one in which the risen Christ shares food with the disciples, meals that open up understanding and are the Easter template for the meal we share each Sunday.
This worship service includes Communion as an extension of the table at St. Peter’s on Sunday, April 14, 2024. You may want to have bread/cracker and wine/juice ready before you watch. The Bible readings for this worship service are Acts 3:12-19; Psalm 4; 1 John 3:1-7; and Luke 24:36b-48.
