Online Worship: Wilderness Sunday—Season of Creation

Have you heard the call of the wild? Some things can only be experienced and learned in the liminal space of the wilderness, where we are not in control. “Wilderness school” is what Dan Erlander calls the Israelites’ forty years of wandering before they could enter the promised land. But even in that wilderness, God went with them in a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. God also goes with us into our own wildernesses—those we choose and those we do not.

This worship service includes Communion as an extension of the table at St. Peter’s on Sunday, September 17, 2023. You may want to have bread/cracker and wine/juice ready before you watch. The Bible readings for this worship service are Exodus 13:17-22; Psalm 18:1-19; Romans 8:18-27; and Matthew 3:13-4:1.
