Love and power. That’s what we hear in God’s voice in the story of Jesus’ baptism. On one hand: “You are my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well pleased,” and on the other hand: “Go out and boldly do what I called you to do.” In our baptism, God gives us a foundation of love and calls us to act with humble power to confront the forces of destruction and violence.
The Bible readings for this worship service are: Genesis 1:1-5; Psalm 29; Acts 19:1-7; and Mark 1:4-11. You may want to have a small bowl of water ready to help you remember your baptism as part of this service.
