Online Worship: Fifth Sunday after Pentecost

Can God be trusted? Is God really benevolent, or does God just give us blessings and then curse us by taking them away? Will God really provide what we need? Our readings today give us a complex picture of what God wants us to do. God commands Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac. Jesus teaches the disciples to provide for those who are vulnerable. As we struggle with doing what God asks of us, the underlying promise rings true again and again: God WILL provide…somehow.

This worship service includes Communion as an extension of the table at St. Peter’s on Sunday, July 2, 2023. You may want to have bread/cracker and wine/juice ready before you watch. The Bible readings for this worship service are Genesis 22:1-14; Psalm 13, 16-17; Romans 6:12-23; and Matthew 10:40-42.
