Online Worship: First Sunday of Advent

It has been said before that all human beings are storytellers. It is human nature to mine our past for nuggets of meaning, melt them down and reshape them into tools for building the future. Our reading from Isaiah talks about a time when all the nations will take weapons of death and reshape them into tools for sustaining life. Our reading from Matthew makes it clear that Jesus is coming soon to hasten that day, whether we are prepared for it or not. Advent means God is on the loose, and the end of the world is only the beginning.

This worship service includes Communion as an extension of the table at St. Peter’s on Sunday, November 27, 2022. You may want to have bread/cracker and wine/juice ready before you watch. The Bible readings for this worship service are: Isaiah 2:1-5; Psalm 122; Romans 13:11-14; and Matthew 24:36-44.
