Online Worship: Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost—Hearts and Hands

What’s the point of tradition? Often it signifies who’s IN and who’s OUT. When the Pharisees needle Jesus because some of his followers don’t ritually wash their hands, Jesus explains that what comes out of your heart is the most important thing. Tradition that comes from God should foster relationship…not prevent it.

This worship service includes Communion as an extension of the table at St. Peter’s on Sunday, August 29, 2021. You may want to have bread/cracker and wine/juice ready before you watch. The Bible readings for this worship service are: Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 6-9; Psalm 15; James 1:17-27; and Mark 7:1-8, 14-15, 21-23.
