Online Worship: Third Sunday after Pentecost—Cedar and Mustard

The parable of the mustard seed is one of the classic stories Jesus tells. But Ezekiel’s prophecy of the mighty cedar is a little less well-known. The Gospel of Mark weaves these two together to show that God’s kingdom is both everywhere (like the mustard plant) and a haven for nurturing life (like a mighty tree).

This worship service includes a slideshow honoring our graduates and retiring nursery school director Linda Hartman. It also includes Communion as an extension of the table at St. Peter’s on Sunday, June 13, 2021. You may want to have bread/cracker and wine/juice ready before you watch. The Bible readings for this worship service are: Ezekiel 17:22-24; Psalm 92:1-4 and 12-15; and Mark 4:26-34.
