Where did the church come from? Why do we even have a church? In today’s gospel, Jesus tells Peter he is the rock on which he will establish the church. What does that even mean? What do you say when Jesus hands you the car keys to the kingdom of heaven? Peter was a bit block-headed and somehow God worked through him…so maybe the same is true for us.
